King Willem-Alexander recently had a working visit to the A16 Rotterdam.

At the end of this year, this first energy-neutral motorway with tunnel will open between the A13 at Rotterdam The Hague Airport and the existing A16 at Terbregseplein. The PPP/DBFM project will improve the living conditions and the mobility of Rotterdam. King Willem-Alexander and minister Barry Madlener were given a guided tour of some of the highlights, including the new Rottemerentunnel, which runs semi-underground through the Lage Bergse Bos and exits under the Rotte river at Terbregseplein. At the Terbregseplein, they witnessed the replacement of the viaduct. A completely new viaduct is being delivered in parts. This way, traffic experiences as little disruption as possible. The king and the minister viewed the new western part of the viaduct and the foundation of the eastern part that is currently being constructed.
